The quality of our grooms is one of our top priorities and we always do our best too make your pet look the best they can. We offer a safe and clean environment. The following policies are designed to ensure we can offer you the best service and can explain any additional charges that may occur.

Please familiarise yourself with our terms of service before visiting us.

>Pricing

> Starting prices are for pets:
• That are used to being professionally groomed on a regular schedule (i.e. 4-8 weeks between appointments)
• Whose coats are well maintained between professional grooms (kept tangle, knot & matt free by regular brushing or combing)

You can reasonably expect to pay more than the starting price for:
• Matted, poorly maintained and/or overgrown coats
• Pets which are extremely difficult to manage or uncooperative during grooming (we have other options to get around this)
• Overweight pets or oversized for the breed standard
• Timid, anxious or nervous pets, which require frequent breaks & may need special handling. We do offer very competitively priced behavioral sessions to ease this and will result in a cheaper groom in the long run.

These cost more time, labour and/or product. The costs are passed on to you.

If we are unable to complete a groom due to behavioural problems or aggression you will be charged the starting price of the groom.
All costs are payable in full at the time you collect your pet.

Salon Exclusivity

If your pet will not tolerate the presence of any other animal in the room there will be an extra charge for Salon Exclusivity due to having to shut the business off from other clients for the duration of your groom. Please contact us to discuss this option if you feel your pet needs this.

Toilet before you visit

Please ensure your pet has been given the opportunity to go to the toilet before arriving. Whilst we understand that accidents happen and do happen, we would really appreciate if they go before they come for their pamper so we can keep the salon as clean as possible for all clients.

Cancelling your dog’s appointment

We respectfully request 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel your pets appointment. The slot can then be offered to other clients when we’re given reasonable time to do so.

Late Fees, No shows & Late Cancellations (of less than 24hrs notice)

We require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice if you unable to keep your appointment. We understand that there are unavoidable emergency situations and we will work with you as best as we can, but not on a continued basis. If you cancel within 24 hours of your groom you will incur a charge of 50% of the total groom price to cover the loss of earnings of having little time to be able to refill the slot. If we have short notice cancellations on a continued basis then you may be required to pay a deposit on your next appointment to assure attendance. We allow up to 10 minutes grace for those arriving late to their appointment however it is down to the groomers discretion as to whether we have time to still groom your dog so please be punctual. We work by appointment only; the appointment slot allocated for your pet’s groom has been booked at your request exclusively. We do not double book appointments; a no-show is lost income. You may be charged a cancellation fee for loss of earnings if you are so late that we are unable to groom your pet. If you do not show to your appointment at all you will also be required to pay 50% of the grooming fee.

Collection

Please collect your dog promptly at the time given to you by your groomer, this may be different to that on your appointment confirmation but you will always be advised the correct time on drop off.

We allow up to 15 minutes grace due to unforeseen events but after this time we reserve the right to charge £10 per 15 minutes after this up to the cost of a normal day care charge. Should you be unable to collect by our normal closing time an overnight charge will applied and you can collect the next day (subject to availability).

Neglected coats & Matting Policy

In the event that your pet’s coat needs to be clipped down to release it from matting or coat neglect, Home from Home Grooming are not liable for any post-grooming effects of this procedure, which is not without risk.

Any humane de-matting will be undertaken solely at my discretion, in compliance with The Animal Welfare Act 2006 (clause 5 – Animals are to be protected from pain, injury and suffering).  De-matting during a routine groom is limited to a maximum of 15 minutes and is only possible if the matting is minimal. For severely matted coats where de-matting isn’t possible, the only humane way to deal with this will be to completely shave off the coat.

You will be given an estimate of how long matt release is likely to take & an estimated cost for the procedure.  A full shave down consumes significantly more time, labour, product & tool/equipment wear and tear than a routine trim therefore will incur an extra charge.  All shave down costs are payable in full at the time you collect your pet. We have a matting disclosure contract for both the customer and the groomer to sign.

Parasite Policy

We have a strict no parasite policy. If your dog is found with an infestation of fleas, we will have to bathe them in our flea shampoo which will incur a £3 cost. There will also be an additional charge of £10 to cover the cost of fumigating the salon with fleas bombs to insure safety for our other clients. If we find any ticks, providing your dog will allow us to remove them and they are not near their eyes, nose, ears or genitals we will remove the tick safely for you at no cost to yourself. However, at times it needs a vet to remove them so we will always notify you of any parasites your pet may have.

Medical Issues

We reserve the right to refuse to groom your dog if we feel they are too ill to be groomed or they have a contagious disease. We will always ensue we care for your pet like they are our own so if they are under the weather wen they are here we will always give you a full report and tell you if we find anything that may need a vet appointment booking.

We do not fully groom pregnant pets at all. We may consider helping you tidy their face and their under carriage and do their nails, but we will not bath, dry and fully groom them, especially if it is late on in the pregnancy due to the risk of hurting or losing any of the puppies.

We are all experienced in grooming elderly dogs but as time passes, we may need to discuss altering the groom as elderly dogs generally struggle to stand. They can also struggle with things such as hip dysplasia or arthritis, develop skin conditions and their temperament can often change so we reserve the right to cut a groom short if we feel it is in your dogs best interest.

Refusal of Service

We reserve the right to refuse to groom any pet at risk of harming our staff or itself. If your dog is accepted for grooming & displays aggression that I have not been informed of during its session, the groom may have to be terminated if we deem it unfair or too dangerous to carry on, you ill then be asked to collect your pet and paid for the time spent and then we can further looking into our other options such as behaviour sessions.

However, you must inform us prior to grooming if your dog has ever bitten or displayed aggression. Failure to disclose this information may result in refusal of further services.

Your attention is drawn to the Dangerous Dogs Act, which holds owners liable for bites and injuries caused by their dogs. We understand that grooming at times can put a dog under stress and cause them to react negatively but in our salon we will always take the very best of care and try to work with your dog best we can. Terminating the groom is not a decision we take lightly.
